Ghosts in the VOIP machine

Big shout out today to Corey the NBN technician who not only called me to tell me that he was going to be there earlier than expected, he also turned out to the be the world's happiest installation technician. Luckily he didn't hang around long enough to watch me completely confuse myself on what to plug where into this shiny new box on the garage wall...

Migo's comic collection episode 2: Meet Dirge the Dirtbag

In our latest offering from the big plastic chest that holds all of my comics both awesome and average comes the amazing tale of Dirge the Terrible, otherwise known as Image Comic's DV8 #20

How will our favorite team of mutants, mutants and deviants survive such a terribly named bad guy?

Migo's comic collection episode 1: Supreme meets the Condiment Cannon

Welcome to my new comic rundown where we grab something random out of what’s been gathering dust in my comic collection and shine a light on what was both awesome and confusing in each issue.
Today we flip through Image’s Supreme #3 from June 1993 and can the team from Bloodstrike manage to topple the unstoppable Nazi fighting juggernaut with the fondness for burning heads from the inside?

More than likely not... but let’s take a look shall we?

Inside the outside broadcast

For anyone who hasn’t been witness to a radio station outside broadcast yet – it works like this: a business hires the radio station to do a particular show or shift live from their premises, making noise about their product or service and generating more interest from fans of the station to swing by and check it all out. Ideally the more people that turn up, the more interest is generated, the more sales are made by the business and everybody goes home happy.
I’ll admit that I have played my part in plenty of them in my radio career – from a couple of quick crosses back to the studio to promote a toy sale to electrical retailer super sales right through to a six hour extravaganza in front of the local town fountain, raising money for...well it was some kind of charity from memory. When outside broadcasts work, they work really well and can really help draw a crowd and provide a pretty decent boost to the sales figures of the day or weekend. Or at least a bit more awareness across the town of what the business is about.

When they go completely balls up...well there’s three great examples that spring to mind and thankfully I was only involved in one of them...

Where are you calling from tonight?

So I've been having a ball recently hosting my new radio night show about the best years in music and to make it even better, they've brought back the requests section. Each night I open the phones and 95% of the time it's someone wanting their favourite song played on the radio - fair enough then.

However it's the remaining 5% that make things truly interesting...

How I lost 3 kilos in 3 weeks

So the good news is, I learnt how to lose 3 kilos in as many weeks without a single gym session. For the first time in an ice age, I’m down to a very trim 72.4kg.

Nice feet pal!

The bad news is – to get to this level I had to practically move an entire three bedroom house. And since it’s such a laborious pain in the rear end, I truly wouldn’t recommend this process to anyone...

8 things I never expected moving to the Gold Coast

It’s been a long time between drinks in terms of posting here but I have fair enough reason, I’ve moved my entire operation from beautiful Bendigo to ever sunny (and occasionally stormy) Gold Coast Queensland. Me, the family and the dog arrives next week. And while I had a fair idea of what to expect, there’s been a few suprises during our time here..
